Brief description

The Idem Capital division are looking for a Data Analyst to assist in the valuation of loan portfolios as part of the Pricing and Analytical team.

Purpose of the role

To provide analysis and data profiling to assist in the valuation of potential loan portfolio acquisitions and to provide Management with ad hoc and regular reporting and analysis on extant acquired portfolios. Working within a small yet high profile team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make an immediate and valuable contribution to multi-million pound investment decisions.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Initial data profiling and analysis of loan portfolio data files
  • Combine and accurately cleanse data from complex data sources
  • Production of reports and summaries of data suitable for presentation to Senior Management
  • Enhance and improve regular reporting to show the performance of extant acquired portfolios
  • Interrogate large datasets looking for trends and insights into loan portfolio performance
  • Provide ad hoc analytical support to Management
  • Build creative solutions to challenging problems under strict time restraints
  • Develop skills in portfolio valuation including the building and maintenance of pricing models
  • Assist in the production of presentations required for the Group Executive Board


  • Excellent problem solving skills using a logical, analytical approach to tasks
  • Proactive, self-motivated and able to acquire new skills and grasp concepts quickly
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work well within a small team, but be comfortable working using own initiative
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to work under pressure and to recognise and act upon priorities
  • Willing and able to adopt a flexible approach as required, able to multi-task and work on several assignments simultaneously and to tight schedules
  • Excellent Excel skills and a good knowledge of SQL preferable but not essential

Qualifications and experience

Strong analytical and mathematical background with a 2:1 or above in a numerical based degree or at least two years’ relevant work experience in an analytical role.

Working hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.30pm (one hour for lunch).
